December 16, 2018: The Hope that shines in darkness

This week, Pastor Hodge looks at the darkness that is within us, which gives us no hope...until a prophecy of light was given in the book of Isaiah. Here, we see Jesus prophesied as the Light. And in Him, we have hope. He’ll also look at the practicality of our hope and what it produces in our lives.

We also had the Hodges and Karen give us our special music today, and the Story’s lit our Advent candle. We hope you are blessed by both of these service elements.

September 23, 2018: Paul's letter to Ephesus

This week, Pastor Hodge looks at Ephesians 1:1-2. In this book, we will look at where this grace and peace that we have comes from. First, to identify authority, Paul identifies himself as an apostle. What does that mean? Then he reveals who he is writing to, and ends with two behavioral qualities of God. What does this mean for us today? Listen and find out!

Mike from the Gideons came out today to do a presentation an update on what they have been doing in the area, including some of the challenges and successes they have had. If you wish to donate to the Gideons work in providing Bibles for those who don’t have one, and in hotels, please contact Dave Osland. This week, Pastor Hodge continues in his series in the book of Zephaniah, specifically Zephaniah  3:8-12. August 12, 2018: Warning Jerusalem and Judah of their fall, part 3

We’re sorry you couldn’t make it to our service this morning! Please join us Wednesday at 7 PM for our Bible study, and then our worship service at 9:30 AM on Sunday.

This week, Pastor Hodge continues part 3 in his series in Zephaniah.
As he looks at Zephaniah 3:1-7, we see what happened before Judah and Jerusalem fell.

They had become rebellious against God. They had become defiled, or evil. They had become tyrannical, against anything good. They did not draw near to God, nor did they want God. Therefore, their princes were like roaring lions, their judges like wolves, their prophets were reckless and treacherous, and their priests profaned the sanctuary and did violence to the law. Instead of repenting, they remained in their sin. Listen to how that is a challenge for us today.

We also had Amy Taylor do our children’s sermon. We hope you are blessed by that! You can also listen to Pastor Hodge’s sermon here:

August 5, 2018: God's judgment on some of Judah's enemies, part 2

This week is part two of Pastor Hodges’ series in the book of Zephaniah where we look at God’s judgment on some of Judah’s greatest enemies. We look at the fall of the Cushites and the Assyrians. In both cases, they fell when they trusted in their own riches and sought to be gods of their own.

But there are lessons today to be had beyond just that. Listen to Pastor Hodges message to find out what they are.

We also had the children of the church do our special music for today; we hope you will be blessed by that.

July 22, 2018: The wrath of God is not for us!

This week, Pastor Hodge continues in the book of Zephaniah. Here we see the prophecy that God will judge man, and those who hate the Lord and rebel against him will be destroyed. But for those who Have turned away from sinful, evil practices and behaviors and have trusted Christ as their Savior and Lord, and walk as the Lord did every day, we have assurance that we will be in heaven, and could be spared the wrath of that will face everyone else. Do you have that assurance? Do you want to have that assurance? Listen to his challenging and thoughtful sermon to find out how!

July 15, 2018: When God speaks, we had better listen

This week, Pastor Hodge expounds on the book of Zephaniah, chapter 1, verses 7 through 12.
We start in verse 7 that we need to be silent before the Lord, that His day is near. A judgement is coming who have turned their backs on God, There will be great cries as the outcome occurs. But we can avoid judgement, and we cannot make God to be neutral or what we want to make of Him. So what are we to do? Listen to Pastor Hodge's sermon today and learn.

We also had Amy Taylor do the children's sermon. We pray that both will be a blessing to you.

July 8, 2018: Looking at Zephaniah

This week, Pastor Hodge looks at the prophets’ telescope of time. They knew Jesus was coming, but they were only given some details. They longed to look into the future to see what was going to happen. But they did know that judgment was coming, and they warned people at the time to not worship false gods. Is our loyalty to Jesus? July 1, 2018: The power of the Ascension

This week, Pastor Hodge looks at the Ascension of Christ. After Jesus was resurrected and appeared to hundreds of people, he was then lifted up and seated at the right hand of God the Father, as seen in Mark 18:19-20.  Why was this event so powerful? Why is it so important, even though some people overlook it? Listen to his sermon today and find out!

June 24, 2018: Wow, so many witnesses!

This week, Pastor Hodge expounds on several verses which show that there were many witnesses of Jesus being with the people after his resurrection. Not just his disciples, but literally hundreds of people who saw Him.

Then, Jesus gives the Great Commission. Hint: it’s not about politics, social justice, healing or anything else. The church needs to be about one thing, and it is the Great Commission. Yes, we are to serve the poor, but even that isn’t our primary marching order. Hear what the Great Commission is, and how everything else flows from it. June 17, 2018: Psalm 46

This week, Jim Mistry did his sermon on Psalm 46. However, while the sermon was excellent, he did mention some people in our congregation, and some afflictions they are dealing with. As a result, we have decided not to put the sermon on the Internet. If you are a church member, please see our production person for a CD of the recording.

We do pray, however, that you are coping with the heat, and Pastor Hodge, Lord willing, will be back here next week. And we pray you have a great week in Christ Jesus!

May 27, 2018: Confirmation and Following the Direct Route

This week, Pastor Hodge, in tandem with Confirmation this week, did his sermon on the theme of "Following the Direct Route". Here, Pastor Hodge teaches us that we need to train up a child in the way they should go, directing us to God's salvation as we repent of our sins, His love for us, and that our God is the only true God. This truth needs to be stood firm, even though it will rub up against our society. We also want you to know the truth of the Scriptures, and why they are true.

May 20, 2018: The peril of obstinate, doubting Thomas

This week, Pastor Hodge expounds on John 20:19-25. The resurrected Jesus has just appeared to all of the disciples, except for Thomas. They rejoiced with Jesus, and Jesus commissions them and gives the disciples the Holy Spirit. But Thomas, who for some reason, was not there at the time, does not the believe the disciples when he returns when they tell him Jesus was there. 8 days later, though, Jesus returns again, and this time, what does Thomas do? And what does this mean for us? Listen and find out!

This Sunday is Mother's Day, and both our children's sermon and our pastor honored mothers today. But why? As we look at Proverbs 31:10-31, we see the importance of mothers, young and old. Listen to their sermons today for a Biblical view of motherhood, and why it is so important.

May 6, 2018: The resurrected Jesus appears (part 4)

This week, we look at Luke 24:36-49, as we continue in the series of the resurrected Jesus. In these verses, Jesus appears to his disciples, except for Thomas. We read about the disciple's meeting behind closed doors, as Jesus appears to them. Jesus then asks for something to eat, and opens their minds to Scripture and gives them a basic Gospel message to preach. What does that mean for us today? Listen and find out!

April 29, 2018: Two guys and a Redeemer (part 3)

This week, Pastor Michael Hodge preaches on Luke 24:13-34. Two of his disciples were conversing about the death of Jesus and all that had happened, when Jesus joins them, even though they don't recognize him. They told Jesus that they were expecting him to come back to life and save the Jews. But Jesus opens their hearts through the Scriptures, and they recognize him.

Now, Jesus isn't physically with us, but he is through the Holy Spirit, and there are times that God has moved in our lives as His will is done through us.

We also had Josiah Fagerstrom and friends do our special music, and tell us what it was like on their musical, missionary tour through Europe. And, we also had Molly Blobaum do her children's sermon on eyes. We hope you are blessed by these service elements.

April 22, 2018: The dynamics of friends and enemies (Post-resurrection apppearances of Jesus, part 2)

This week, Pastor Hodge continues his series tht went through Easter and looks at the dynamics of friends and enemies of Jesus post-resurrection. For instance, we see Mary Magdalene sees the resurrected Jesus, but Jesus' disciples don't believe her. The group of women see Jesus, believe and worship him, and calms them. But then there is a the Great Lie from Jesus' enemies. How do they try to cover up the resurrection? How to the chief priests do it? And what important lesson can we take away from it? Listen and find out!

We also had Mark Fagerstrom give his children's sermon using a...banana? Yes, just listen to how he gets to the point of what the Word of God teaches. No, it's nothing crazy, just listen to it. :-) And, we had Dale Vesta and Karen Hannan do our special music for today.

April 15, 2018: Jesus' post-resurrection appearances (part 1)

This week, we had an unusual service. For the first time in many years, we had no electricity for the first 2/3rds of the service due to a power outage. Exelon got our portion of the power grid back up just before the sermon started, so we were able to record that (but nothing else). This changed our worship service to an acoustic one. No organ...piano and guitar and our voices sufficiently helped us to sing praises to God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sunday school was interesting as well! Thanks to the hard working linesmen at Exelon for getting us back up and running 7 hours earlier than expected, in very challenging weather conditions, with snow and light freezing rain falling!

This week, Pastor Hodge expounded on John 20:11-18. Unbelievers think that Christian women are treated as second class citizens. Of course, God crushes that utter nonsense as women were the first to see the risen Christ, and their encounter with angels, and Jesus. God gave men and women equally important roles, just as He does today.

We had intended to record the Children's sermon and special music, but the power didn't come back on until afterwards.

April 8, 2018:Jesus cries out and dies, yet he starts something new

This week, Pastor Michael Hodge looks at Matthew 27:50-53. A lot of pastors do not tackle these verses because of their complexity. But this week Pastor Hodge does that, talking about why there were outer and inner curtains to the temple. Did Jesus descend into Hell, and what about the story of the rich man and Lazarus? And what is the original Scripture and early church view on Hell? Who will be raised from the dead? And what does that all mean to us? Listen and find out!

We also welcomed our new members today, with special music as well. We hope you are blessed by these service elements. You can here them by cutting and pasting this link into your browser, here:

March 25, 2018: The Triumph into Jerusalem

On Palm Sunday, Pastor Hodge expounded on Matthew 21:1-11, and the triumphant trek into Jerusalem. On this day, prophecy was fulfilled from Zechariah 9:9, Matthew 21:2-9. But the crowd and the Jewish leaders had different and incorrect thoughts: the crowd that had gathered thought he was a political leader; and the Jewish and Roman leaders feared he would usurp their authority. But who is Jesus? And why did he die for who he was? Listen and find out!

We also had Molly Blobaum do our children's sermon, Dale Vesta and Karen Hannan did our special music, and Jim Mistry talked about his trip to Ethiopia, training pastors in the Gospel. We hope you are blessed by these service elements.

March 18, 2017: An interesting group of people come together

This week, Pastor Hodge's sermon is "An interesting group of people come together". Someone is coming! First Jesus, then Martha, then Mary, then the crowd, and then Lazarus. And then here we come. What can we learn from Martha? Do some of us identify more with Mary? How do we fit into the crowd? How do we identify with Lazarus? And what do we do with Jesus? Listen and find out! This is all coming from John 11:17-46.
We also had Molly Blobaum give our children's sermon. We had a few audio difficulties at the beginning, but Molly was able to fix it, so be patient! You can hear these service elements here:

This week, Pastor Hodge continues his series on the Lord's Prayer with "Do not lead us into temptation". What is the origin of temptation to sin, does God do it, and if not, where? And how do we fight it? This is an excellent sermon we think you'll be blessed by.

February 4, 2018: Give us this day our daily bread

This week, Pastor Hodge expounds upon Matthew 6:11. This verse raises some very interesting and great points about our Lord. First, asking for what we want. What do we want, and what do we need? We should be careful to understand both. And, what is it to ask for our daily bread? You may think it's for food, shelter, etc for today, but it is more than that, when you look at the Greek text! Listen to find out what it is, and how this should impact our prayers to our Lord.

We also had the Sunday School kids come up and do our special music. We hope you enjoy that blessing.

January 28, 2018: To pray God's will

This week, Pastor Hodge continues in the Lord's Prayer, and talks about how to pray God's will on Earth as it is in heaven. How do we do that? First, Jesus taught us to pray for God's will to be done (Matthew 6:10). We also need to consider two concepts, and have a picture of God's will in heaven. What are the two concepts, and how is this done? Listen to his sermon and find out.

Also, we had Molly Blobaum do her children's sermon on "secrets", and Jim Mistry told us about his upcoming mission trip to Ethiopia, and how we can help.

We also had Molly Blobaum have her children's sermon on Christmas Blues today. Why do some people have them, and what do we need to remember so that we don't have them?
