March 22, 2020: The spiritual gift of exhortation (Empty sanctuary and online audio due to COVID-19)

We have canceled church for bad winter weather conditions before. But not for a pandemic! This was a bit awkward: it was just the audio engineer, the pastor and his wife, a musician and a Scripture reader all practicing "social distancing", all while doing our service this morning for an online audience. We made it as normal as possible, and our series in spiritual gifts continues today with the spiritual gift of exhortation. That's not a common word today, so Pastor Hodge will explain what it means to exhort, why it is an extremely personal gift, and who in the Bible had it? And do we have it ourselves? Listen and find out!

Get ready to sing along as Roger Seldal leads our worship for you.
If you have any comments, concerns, questions, or suggestions for improvement, we would love your feedback during these difficult times. Please send all correspondence to our website contact page, we'd love to hear from you!

March 15, 2020: (mostly) complete service (Empty sanctuary and online audio due to COVID-19)

Hello everyone,

Due to the threat of COVID-19, we are going to send this email weekly to all our members, and we are going to try to record the service from beginning to end. Feel free to share it, and pass it along to others who would benefit hearing this service.

Due to the length of this morning's service, we have everything recorded up through the end of the sermon today, which starts at 46 minutes and several seconds afterwards in the recording. Pastor Hodge continued in his series on spiritual gifts, and specifically the gift of teaching. Who has the gift of teaching, how is it manifested, and what do great Bible teachers need? And who is a great example of one? Listen and find out by cutting and pasting this link into your browser:

And we pray you have a great week in Christ Jesus!

March 14, 2020: A word about COVID-19 (this post expires on April 30, 2020 unless canceled/replaced)

Dear GFLC members and guests,

As a result of the COVID-19 virus, we are cancelling Sunday school until further notice. Furthermore, we strongly recommend that if you have any health issues, or are over 60 years old, or are at significant risk for catching the virus and becoming severely symptomatic, STAY HOME. We will record the service audio from beginning to end, and post them on our blog by Monday morning (frequently Sunday afternoon) as we are able. We are evaluating the situation daily, and are continuously monitoring the CDC and the DeKalb County Health Department for further information, recommendations, or mandatory shutdowns.

March 1, 2020: Spiritual gifts - prophecy

This week, Pastor Hodge continues in his series on the spiritual gifts of Romans 12 by looking at the gift of prophecy. He takes a look at what it is, and what it isn't, and then looked at the prophet Jeremiah and how true prophets of God suffered because of their obedience to the Lord. You can hear his sermon here:
