November 23, 2014: Jesus qualities, and the cost of following Jesus

This week, as I was unable to post last week, we have Pastor Michael Hodge continuing in the book of Mark, specifically verses 27-30 and 31-36. Pastor Hodge talks about the dangers of elevating one of Jesus' qualities over another, as many want to do these days, and then, in the second sermon here, counting the cost of following Jesus.

November 9, 2014: A blind man's gradual restoration

This week, Pastor Michael Hodge expounds on Mark 8, verses 22-26. In this chapter, we learn what Jesus does in healing this blind man. Why did he spit on the man's eyes? Obviously, we don't do that today. Why did He do this, and what does this mean for us today? Listen to his sermon and find out!

November 2, 2014: A lesson on trust, or, who forgot the food?

First: our apologies, as the battery in the microphone died 3 minutes into the sermon. A quick replacement, and all was well. Pardon the interruption.

This week, Pastor Michael Hodge preached on Mark 8, verses 14-21. In this section, the disciples realized that they don't have enough bread. But Jesus told them to watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees, and Herod. The disciples were trying to figure out how that related to their food situation, but they missed the point altogether. We do this a lot! Listen to Pastor Hodge as he tells us that God will provide us with what we need, and not to worry over the things that we do need that the Lord says he will provide.

October 26, 2014: Arguing with Jesus

As Pastor Michael Hodge continues in the book of Mark, he focuses in on Chapter 8, verses 10-13 today. Some people today will still argue against the Christian faith; many won't even talk about it. But in Jesus' day, the Pharisees argued with him, and wanted to test him...to prove he was the devil, not the Son of God. Jesus looked inside and knew their hearts...which were completely full of hatred against Him. He walked away, knowing nothing he could say or do would change them. October 19, 2014: A hungry crowd

Pastor Michael Hodge continues in the book of Mark, looking at chapter 8, verses 1 through 9. This is where Jesus feeds the 4,000. When he fed the crowd, Mark notes that they ate and were all satisfied. Today, Jesus says only he can satisfy us...not any person or thing. In this consumeristic world of bigger is better and will make you satisfied, Jesus says only he can satisfy. Listen to his sermon today and find out how.

October 12, 2014: The touch of Jesus

Today, Pastor Michael Hodge's sermon was on the touch of Jesus. Ever get a hug from someone, or a handshake, or a pat on the back, and it really meant something to you? Well, Jesus did as well, and to those he touched, he made an eternal difference, as well as a physical difference. October 5, 2014: The importance of catching a breath of fresh air

When was the last time you took a day off, or an afternoon off, and went fishing. Or spent time with a friend. Or grabbed a warm glass of milk, a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate?

Today, Pastor Michael Hodge reminds us that we need to do this. Jesus did, and, due to the nature of his ministry, sometimes he simply couldn't get away as the crowds followed him. But, whenever he could, he talked to his Father and took time to get away to do that. Pastor Hodge expounds on this, and why it is so important to us today that we do this.
